This 4th of July, Celebrate the True Builders of America — Immigrants.

While some try to wrap authoritarianism in the flag and parade cruelty as patriotism, we remember what the Fourth of July is really about: people coming together to imagine a better future. This year, instead of letting nationalism drown out justice, we’re raising our voices to honor the generations of immigrants who have shaped this country — and continue to do so every day.

From the mills of Manchester to the farms of the North Country, from Somali entrepreneurs in Concord to Guatemalan families in Nashua, immigrants have always been at the heart of New Hampshire’s story — and America’s. Their labor, culture, and courage built this country. Their struggles and triumphs continue to strengthen it.

Join us on the morning of July 4th from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Strawbery Banke in Portsmouth, NH, where a naturalization ceremony will welcome new citizens into the fabric of this nation from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM. We will be there to support them — and to stand in joyful, powerful solidarity with all immigrants in New Hampshire and across the United States.

This Independence Day, we’re choosing community over cruelty, belonging over exclusion, and dignity over division. Across New Hampshire, we’ll gather to uplift immigrant voices and push back against those who seek to silence them. With satire, celebration, and solidarity, we’ll remind the world what real patriotism looks like: justice, welcome, and joy for all.

Let’s reclaim the “big tent” for democracy — not a circus of fear, but a celebration of freedom and inclusion.

Because immigrants are not only part of America — they are America.
